The gallery building dates back to
the 1890’s and
is on five floors with two dedicate sales floors. The property
constructed in Derbyshire stone was formally Marsden’s
General Store and the original layout; window configuration
and tiled floors have been retained. However out of necessity
some new features have been sympathetically introduced including
a new spiral staircase and an atrium on the top floor, which
replaced an ugly and very unsound dormer window.
To the rear of the property is the fully
equipped framing workshop and above that is a flat roofed exterior
area, which will be developed in 2006 into a sculpture
garden with views up to Riber Castle.
