ANTOINETTE BURCHILL

At age seven Antoinette had a life changing experience. A workshop with a local Canterbury artist, Hazel Trivelli transformed a shy, self-conscious girl into someone with a vision of their future and a passion for art.

20 odd years later after studying at Canterbury and Derby the passion is still very much alive and has most recently resulted in the Dreamscape series of paintings, which are on show at the gallery.

ANTOINETTE’S STATEMENT

My aim is to produce expressive, dynamic and striking abstract paintings. Some are made spontaneously, others relate to specific source material.
Colour, its use and application are vital to my work. I aim to create images that reflect and articulate my perception of colour as luminous and seductive.

The Dreamscape Series

My inspiration for this series was the Aurora Borealis phenomenon. The Dreamscape paintings are visual arena, landscapes, portals into which you can project your own ideas, hopes and dreams.
